No more “lose the last 5 pounds”
No more “finally get in shape”
No more “cut out sugar… for real this time”
The other week, I went with a friend to a Japanese bath house. If you’ve never been to one before, it looks a lot like a spa, with massage rooms and soft music and lavender scented everything. But the main space is the communal bath area.
This topic has been showing up for me in my life, and in the lives of those I love, repeatedly the past few weeks.
What does this mean?
How do we embody it?
How do we act on it with conviction?
We often try to take on life’s biggest challenges by ourselves.
We try to tough it out alone, keep things under the radar, and sweep our shit under the rug before anyone notices that it’s come up.
“Suck in your stomach, ladies!”
I remember hearing my female friends say this while we were taking photos together and it always bothered me. I used to think they were crazy to think that they needed to look skinnier for a picture, or that they could possibly impress someone by having a flatter stomach…who cares?
Food restriction. It’s something that so many women struggle with, and yet very few people talk about it – probably because there is so much shame around this behavior that we all try to pass it off as “healthy” or “clean” eating.
“I don’t do carbs. Sugar pretty much causes cancer, anyway.”
“I’m vegan now. I don’t need any of that fatty stuff.”...
Do you feel like you're overly focused on weight loss?
This is the #1 most common thing I hear from the women that I speak with. They're on board with the idea of eating intuitively, they want to stop criticizing their bodies....but they just can't let go of the desire to lose or maintain a certain weight.
You’ve been searching for solutions to end your binge eating.
Looking for the thing that’ll make it stop for good.
You’re tired of spending every other night in the kitchen, standing amongst candy wrappers, empty jars of peanut butter scraped to the bottom, and the leftovers you swore you’d save for tomorrow’s lunch, wondering “How the hell can I keep doing this?”
